Tzofar - Red Alert

"Tzofar" system alerts about alarms throughout the State of Israel quickly and immediately. In addition, Tzofar also alerts about various other threats, such as hostile aircraft alerts, terrorist infiltration, earthquakes, tsunami alerts, hazardous material incidents, radiological incidents, unconventional incidents, and more, along with specifying the threat in the alert.

Notifications can also be received through voice alerts (in four different languages) and the reading of the names of the towns where the siren is heard, or a sound of your choice. In addition, Tzofar can notify only about the regions of interest that you have defined or if you have chosen to receive general alerts across the entire country.

Tzofar - Red Alert provides alerts through various platforms, including an application for iPhone and Android, a Telegram channel for Tzofar, a Chrome extension, Facebook, Twitter, a WhatsApp channel, and the Tzofar website where you can view real-time alerts on the map.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why i dont receive real time alerts on iPhone?
It may be a known bug related to notifications in IOS. To solve this, restart the device and enter the application again.
Why is there no voice alert on iPhone devices?
Due to background running limitations and notification in the iOS operating system, the option for voice alerts cannot currently be implemented on iPhones. It is possible that this feature will be added in the future.
What is the difference between primary and secondary alerts?
Using primary and secondary alerts, you can define different options based on your selection of towns or entire regions. For example, if you choose "Tel-Aviv" with a loud siren in the primary alerts and select the entire country with a different sound in the secondary alerts, you will receive alerts accordingly.

Please note that primary alerts take precedence, so if both primary and secondary alerts are active for the same threat, you will hear the sound of the primary alert only.
Why do I receive alerts for settlements I didn't choose?
You should check your selections for primary and secondary alerts. Please note that if you choose areas, such as "Gaza Envelope," you will receive alerts for the entire area. If you want to receive alerts only for specific cities, you should not select areas.
What does each color on the map represent?
To distinguish between different threats on the alert map, each color represents a different type of threat.
For example, the red color represents a standard "Red Alert" (rocket and missile fire), and the orange color represents an alert for the infiltration of a hostile aircraft.
You can click on any color or location on the map to see which threat the color represents and which alerts were triggered for that location.
Where can I view the full alert history?
Tzofar has an archive page displaying alerts since 2022.
The site includes charts (frequency of locations and areas, number of alerts by time of day, and types of threats), a heat map showing the number of alerts geographically, and a full alert history view with filtering options by region, date range, and threat types.

What is Tzofar?
Tzofar is a voluntary alert system for sirens and emergencies in Israel. Tzofar is available on various platforms, including an iPhone and Android application, a website, a Chrome extension, a Telegram channel, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. The system is connected to the IDF Home Front Command's servers, providing real-time information. Please note that Tzofar is not an official system, so it should not be relied upon exclusively for emergency alerts.
What types of threats does Tzofar provide alerts for?
Tzofar provides alerts for all types of threats that the Home Front Command issues alerts for. These threats include Red Color (rocket and missile attacks), hostile aircraft, earthquakes, tsunami alerts, terrorists infiltration, hazardous material incidents, unconventional missiles, and any other threats. When you receive an alert, the type of threat will be indicated at the beginning of the message (e.g., "Red Alert" or "Earthquake"). In the app, website, and Chrome extension, you can choose which types of threats to receive alerts for.
Does Tzofar provide alerts for drills?
As of now, Tzofar provides alerts for some but not all drills. Small and local drills that occur throughout the country, as part of Project 360, are not distributed via Tzofar, while larger drills, like the national Home Front Command drill, are sent through the Tzofar system. In any case, if a drill is sent through the Tzofar system, an advance notice will be published. When you receive a drill alert, the message will begin with the word "Drill." In the app, website, and Chrome extension, there is an option to choose whether to receive alerts for drills sent via the Tzofar system.
Does Tzofar provide alerts for open-area sirens?
Currently, Tzofar does not provide alerts for open-area sirens because the Home Front Command does not distribute them to the public. Alerts for open-area sirens can be received using the official IDF Home Front Command app, but they will only be sent when there is an alert in your specific area.
Why didn't you issue an alert when news reported rocket fire towards Israel?
It's possible that an alert was not issued because it wasn't activated in a populated area or because the threat was in an open area. As of now, Tzofar does not issue alerts for open areas.
Is it safe to publish the map?
The map displays the location of settlements where the alert was activated but does not reveal the location of missile landings. There is no danger in publishing it for this reason.
